Turning Dreams Into Reality
The Florida East Coast Supersonics Track Club has deep roots in the Daytona Beach community. Formerly known as the Daytona Beach Supersonics, the program was founded in 1990 by Coach Freddie Morrell, who dedicated decades to shaping young athletes. In 2016, leadership passed to Coach Wonzel Morris, who continued the legacy until 2018. After both leaders retired, the program was entrusted to Stacey Johnson, a proud Daytona Beach native and the current Director.
The Supersonics operate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, not affiliated with any city or county programs. We are based in the City of Daytona Beach, FL, serving youth ages 5–18. Our athletes compete across Central and North Florida at AAU and USATF meets, with opportunities to travel and compete at the highest levels.
Over the years, several Supersonics athletes have earned full-ride college scholarships and continued their track careers at the next level. From podium finishes at national championships to personal breakthroughs on and off the track, our mission remains the same:

We specialize in track & field, speed development, and endurance training, but our impact goes far beyond the sport. Supersonics is also a mentorship program built on discipline, confidence, teamwork, and community. Our motto is simple:
“It’s bigger than track and field — NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND.”
In 2023 alone, Daytona Beach saw 16 homicides, including young people under the age of 25. Programs like the Supersonics are not just helpful—they’re essential. We provide structure, purpose, positive role models, and a safe outlet for youth to grow into strong, focused, successful individuals.
Each year, many of our athletes qualify for and stand on the podium at the AAU Junior Olympics, held from late July through early August. Their success is a reflection of hard work, dedication, and the unstoppable spirit of our program.
